You may wonder about the QRCode that is generated on the HP Console and what information it creates.
Q. what is the Value called Secret used for.
A. These are not Secrets, even though the Text Labels indicates “secret” Each time the QRCode is Generated by the printer application it creates a Random Hashed Keypair Name & Secret that provides a Onetime use for the mobile app to reference. This insures the QRCode uniqueness. No Client or user information is used during the Process nor secrets.
Q. Are these secret keys permanent? How long does this key last
A. They are not permanent and only during the display of the QRCode login request and are short lived
Q. What other purpose does the QRCode serve
A. The QRCode also provides the user with specific Site location settings when they first register the HP Secure Authentication Mobile companion app, which is visible Under Settings > Site Settings. it tells us which API and Keycloak Server your printer has been assigned to, as printers can be assigned to different geographical regions according to the customers security / GDPR requirements.
