To the IT/Security Team
To improve the management of Azure App Registration secrets and ensure a smooth sign-in process, it's essential to set up a process that allows customers to configure the expiry date of secrets and reminds them to provide new secret values before they expire. Here's a guide for handling Azure App Registration secrets:
Flexible Expiry Date:
Customers have the right to configure the expiry date based on their specific requirements, choosing a period ranging from days to months.
Customer Notification:
Customers must be notified in advance of the impending expiration of their Azure App Registration secrets. This notification should be sent to the designated contact email or notification system provided by the customer during the registration process.
The notification should be sent with sufficient lead time to allow customers to generate and send the new secret value to Datasec if applicable, prior to the current secret's expiry.
Reminder Schedule:
Establish a reminder schedule for notifying customers of their secret's upcoming expiration, which includes multiple reminders leading up to the expiry date. This schedule should start well in advance of the expiration date to ensure customers have ample time to act.
Notification Content:
The notification should clearly state the expiry date of the current secret and remind customers to generate a new secret before that date.
Provide clear instructions on how to create and send the new secret value to Datasec if relevant.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for customers on how to generate and update their Azure App Registration secrets.
