New Versions of the HP Authentication Suite of applications have been released as of 16th July 2024 - See What's New!

Prerequisites - Please Read Very Carefully

For a Successful deployment of HP Authentication manager, the following are Mandatory requirements.

We allow users to Sign-in Using Microsoft Authenticator, configured in Password less mode., We prefer not to use username & Password, OTP (One Time Passwords), Email or SMS validations, however, it can be used but will delay the user sign-in process workflow. So our preference is to enable Azure Passwordless Mode for those users of the HP Authentication Suite of Applications.

You will require someone Capable of Creating an Azure Application Registration on behalf of the Customer, a Global Azure admin or equivalent with the correct Azure privileges and the full technical understanding of setting up Multifactor Authentication for both Azure tenant and end users mobile devices using the Microsoft Authenticator mobile application.

Under normal circumstances the task of setting up the customer Azure Tenant is the responsibility of the customer, and whom ever they use to provide full technical and consulting security services. The onboarding instructions are designed to be used by an Azure IT and Security Specialist who should understand the implications of deploying Microsoft Password Less MFA infrastructure.

If you are not a Certified Azure Security Specialist then please consult one!

Here is a List of Other Prerequisites.

  • A HP Customer representative or HP Reseller that currently manages your Print Fleet as they will need to know how to Deploy HP Workpath based Applications according to your requirements.

  • Single Microsoft office 365 Azure Infrastructure / Tenant.

  • HP MFD with Firmware 5.5.0 > 5.8 Platform 29.7>31.8

  • *Your HP MFD must be HP Workpath capable and enabled

  • Your Printer must be using genuine HP Supplies, else Workpath apps cannot be installed.

  • **Your HP MFD must not have any other Login and Authentication application installed.

  • User must be be using Microsoft’s Authenticator Mobile app configured to password less Mode to authenticate to their current Office 365 Account or into the HP Authentication Suite.

  • HP Authentication Manager Only Support the NEW HP 365 office Authentication Suite of Apps, We do not support any other applications Like HP Secure Access, HP Insights, Everyone Print, HP OneDrive for Business etc..

  • We do not support HP Single Sign on or HPID, this must be disabled

Here are a List of App certified to work with HP Authentication Manager

HP printer must be HP Workpath capable and enabled – Your HP representative / Reseller will be able to provide you with a list of all devices that meets the HP Workpath and Firmware requirements and guide you accordingly. Many HP Devices are capable of running HP WorkPath Based applications but may need an Extra DIMM Memory Module to be purchased, and your HP Representative is fully responsible for deploying the Apps onto your Fleet via HP Command Centre.

**HP Printer must not have any other Login and Authentication application installed. – Your HP representative / Reseller will be able to guide you, basically if you are using any of the HP Authentication applications and or 3rd Party applications to sign-in to your Printers (e.g. Everyone Print, HP Secure Access, HPID etc.) then you will not be able to use our New HP Authentication Manager application unless you uninstall the current sign-in application, this is particularly important if you are currently using NFC to Tap On and Sign-in via those alternate Sign-in Console apps.

Additional Information

  • NFC nor BLE Readers are required for our solution, however if you currently use NFC/BLE Readers then we have limited support for both the Readers and especially the Card Types / Protocols. Please check with your HP Representative if your current Readers and Card types are supported, else our solution will  support a Reader-less flow by using our HP Secure Authentication Mobile app QRCode Option.

  • Most 3rd Party installed applications may not support HP Authentication Manager Sign-in methodology, therefore please review if you wish to keep those additional application(s). we suggest speaking with your HP representative, However Applications that can utilize the HP Printer Signed in Device feature may be able to utilize our application, once again please check with your HP Representative before you proceed.

  • Office 365 Suite includes Universal Print which requires the user to have a Microsoft Azure Universal Print License, See Microsoft Licensing for further information if your current Azure / Office Licenses qualifies, else you will need to purchase a Microsoft Universal Print License
